THE APPEAL recounts the fierce fight of prosecutor France Charbonneau and police investigators to bring down the highest-ranking leader of the Hells Angels’ criminal bikers, Maurice Boucher!

THE APPEAL conveys viewers to the late 1990s, a time when Quebec was in the middle of a gruesome war between two groups of criminal bikers, the Rock Machines and the Hells Angels. In response to the escalation of violence that cost the lives of many innocent people, the government created the Carcajou squad (Wolverine), a group of police investigators determined to put an end to this bloody conflict. Sylvain Provencher, one of the investigators arrests Stephane “Godasse” Gagne, the main suspect in the murder of two prison guards. Godasse will decide to become an informer for the police and the sole witness to sentence Maurice “Mom” Boucher, the head of the Hells Angels. The first trial ended in a scary acquittal of Boucher in 1998. The citizens were terrified, the bikers were ruling the streets, the police and the legal system seemed powerless. A decisive turn will take place in 2000 with the intervention of France Charbonneau, a knowledgeable prosecutor. Her tenacity and expertise will finally lead to a second trial of the criminal leader in 2002.
