Beating Hearts

A heart that beats and injures. The series delves into the world of domestic and family violence through The Violence Prevention Center (VPC); a community organization that intervenes with violent men. It was set up to allow men who have committed acts of violence against their wives, children, parents and even their friends and colleagues to acknowledge their behavior and take responsibility for their actions.

This Center benefits from a first-rate protagonist: Christophe L’Allier. He himself experienced it as a child and inflicted it when he was a young adult. He has since gone through a self-reflection and managed to get rid of his patterns.

BEATING HEARTS also portrays Gabrielle Laflamme, Crown Prosecutor. She specializes in family and domestic violence cases. She has the same objective as Christophe L’Allier. Her own lever: the Law. She considers that the means used presently are not effective enough to get men understand that their violence is unacceptable. She is adamant and assertive in her approach which vary from fines to convictions or incarcerations.

Christophe and Gabrielle want the same thing: to reduce violence against women, children and loved ones. They perceive violence through their own experiences and have different strategies to lessen it. They both dream of a day when stories of violence won’t be so widespread and, above all, the most tolerated crime on the planet.
