Roy Dupuis and Hélène Bourgeois Leclerc at the heart of My Body and Them
Montreal, May 13, 2019 - Roy Dupuis and Hélène Bourgeois Leclerc will play the lead roles in the new major annual drama on ICI TÉLÉ starring Danielle Trottier: My Body and Them. The series will also introduce us to a cohort of highly talented young actresses: Cassandra Latreille, Naïla Victoria Louidort-Biassou, Tayna V. Lavoie, Alison Carrier, Evelyne Laferrière, and Ambre Jabrane.
It's worth noting that My Body and Them revolves around a unique institution: the Marie-Labrecque school. It welcomes some sixty girls aged 12 to 17, all pregnant or new mothers. Its dual mission is to oversee their education and prepare them to assume their role as mothers, to the point where, after giving birth, they will be able to care for the fragile and totally dependent little being they have brought into the world. Nothing could be less certain! It's a daunting challenge, and it must be accomplished within a few months.
Composed of dedicated teachers and counselors, including Christophe (Roy Dupuis), the new psychoeducator, Marie-Labrecque's team, led by Tina (Hélène Bourgeois Leclerc), supports them as much as they can to help them succeed in their studies and put their minds and lives in order to prove they're capable of caring for their child. These caregivers often make the difference, but not always. They will sometimes be helpless witnesses to a steep slope or unexpected life shocks. Because the outside world—parents, boyfriends, friends, bad company, and events beyond the school's control—have a big say in their development.
Like the sixty or so girls who attend, Edwidge (Naïla Victoria Louidort-Biassou), Flora (Tayna V. Lavoie), Den (Evelyne Laferrière), Camille (Ambre Jabrane), and Jolène (Alison Carrier) are firmly committed to continuing their studies, while 13-year-old Anaïs (Cassandra Latreille) desperately wants to be admitted, but she'll have to convince her parents. At the same time, these girls must make a hasty entry into the adult world, even though they struggle with issues common to many teenagers today: low self-esteem, family conflict, oversexualization, eating disorders, anxiety, abandonment, and more. The dream is there, but the reality is demanding, and there's no guarantee that they'll be given their child when they give birth. The cast also includes Fanny Mallette, Emmanuel Bilodeau, David Boutin, Nathalie Mallette, Gabriel D’Almeida Freitas, Thomas Delorme, Marikym Hervieux, Kaly Roy, Annie Charland, and Élodie Maboundou.
My Body and Them once again brings together writer Danielle Trottier, director Jean-Philippe Duval, and producers Fabienne Larouche and Michel Trudeau of Aetios Productions, who brought us the cult series Unit 9. My Body and Them will premiere in fall 2019 on ICI TÉLÉ.
