Ariane at a crossroads: the 5th and final season of Ruptures on ICI TÉLÉ
Wednesday, August 28, 2019 – Weakened by years of overworking and the grip of her inner demons, Ariane Beaumont yearns for a less tumultuous life, but will she be able to achieve it while continuing her relentless fight for justice? This is the story of the 5th season of RUPTURES, which premieres Mondays at 9 p.m. starting September 9 on ICI TÉLÉ. Isabelle Pelletier and Daniel Thibault wrote the scripts for this 5th season, which is directed by Rafaël Ouellet. RUPTURES is produced by Fabienne Larouche and Michel Trudeau of Aetios Productions.
By proving the far-reaching of a judge and a renowned lawyer, Ariane (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin) triumphed in a case that could have cost her her career. She also managed to push her mother (Sylvie Léonard) to reveal her secret about her father's murder. The return of Étienne (Vincent-Guillaume Otis), still in love, gives her the prospect of a less chaotic relationship than with Antoine (Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge), and perhaps start a family. Her latest victory has strengthened her professional relationship with Marc (Vincent Leclerc). Has Ariane reached the point where peace can finally fill her daily life?
But Ariane's character has been tempered by the violent events she witnessed, such as her father's murder, or experienced, such as the assault by Jean-Luc De Vries (Normand D'Amour), which left a lasting mark on her. This karma seems to constantly draw her into a life of struggle. And first and foremost, a struggle against herself, which she subdues by saving the widow and the orphan. She is now becoming aware of her patterns, so her idealism is tinted with a dose of cynicism. It's easy to see how disturbed she will be when she learns that it was to protect her that Claude (Isabel Richer) gave in to Jean-Luc's blackmail. A cause stemming from a toxic relationship based on emotional blackmail will once again lead Ariane to cross swords with Marie Rousseau (Catherine Trudeau). We will discover that the latter resembles her in more than one way. Also from a modest background, she defends her clients as if her life depended on it, fearing she'll lose everything at any moment. However, a struggle at the top of her practice will give her other reasons to worry: Jean-Luc, eager to regain his throne, will discover that his protégé Étienne has long been plotting his downfall. The knives are flying.
Claude continues to pull herself together, taking steps to regain her right to practice. The relationship between Gabrielle (Dominique Laniel) and Michaël (Steve Gagnon), Ariane's brother, is anything but smooth sailing, but the young woman nonetheless diligently pursues her studies to become a lawyer.
Ariane, who will not be spared by events, will often be faced with difficult choices while defending emotionally charged causes and disputes.
